Brakes, Tyres & Exhausts
Brakes, tyres and exhausts, checked by qualified mechanics.
Three of the most important systems on your car for safety, legality and running costs, all looked after at our Hillington garage.
Brakes
Brakes are a critical safety system of a vehicle. The brake system should be checked at every service and not be interfered with by anybody who does not have the appropriate skills and experience. Brake repairs should only be carried out by a qualified mechanic.
A typical brake service would include:
- Road test vehicle to check that brakes are operating correctly
- Replace front and rear pads or shoes if necessary
- Inspect brake fluid levels and check braking system components

What do I need to know about UK tyre law?
UK law requires that your vehicle is fitted with the correct type and size of tyre for the vehicle type you are driving and for the purpose it is being used. This means fitting the right tyres and, for safety, making sure they are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure.
A regular check of your tyres can help you avoid 3 penalty points and £2,500 in fines (per tyre) for having tyres worn beyond the legal minimum limit.

Exhausts
Your car's exhaust system has several functions: to reduce engine noise, reduce pollution, improve performance, help fuel economy and direct poisonous gases away from the car and the people inside. It is important to keep your exhaust system in great condition, as replacing it can be costly.
